Postpartum Support

The Fourth Trimester

World renowned pediatrician and author, Dr. Harvey Karp, refers to the first 3 months post-birth as “the fourth trimester” of pregnancy. He believes that babies are born too soon and that their care during this period should include lots of swaddling, swaying, shushing and sucking! As a baby expert, he may know full well what babies need, but WE are the experts on new parents and we know how to help you acheive what YOU need.

We know that you are recovering from the birth of your baby and you are navigating a direct shift in every single aspect of your life. You are in uncharted territory and you desperately want to make all the right decisions for your baby and yourselves. We also know that when you’re trying to make decisions, it is easier to do it when you are aware of all of the options, and the benefits and risks that come with each.

We help parents do exactly that! We know all of the options when it comes to babies and caring for them, and we know the benefits and risks of each. We’ve got some great systems for helping our clients sort through these choices and we do it without judgement or favoring of one philosophy over another. Our job is to help our clients find their perfect plan. First, we learn about our clients’ parenting philosophies. Then we help them create and implement strategies that support those goals!

Our Postpartum & Infant Care Doula Services can be utilized for short shifts during the day, overnight care or even short-term live-in care!

Let’s face the facts:

  • you may need stitches vaginally or abdominally post-birth.
  • newborns sleep often but not for great lengths of time.
  • newborns eat often and that they take a little while to get the hang of it.
  • anxiety and depression post-birth can be absolutely debilitating.

It’s all true and these are just some of the reasons why families in the Southeastern PA and Tristate area are turning to King of Prussia Doulas for postpartum doula support!

What if we told you that:

  • we are experts in expected post-birth recovery? We help our clients recognize what is “normal” and what warrants a call to your doctor or midwife.
  • by having a King of Prussia Doula during the day or through the night, you would be able to get the sleep your body needs to recover from giving birth? We bring the baby in to our breastfeeding clients and gently wake them to nurse or we give them a bottle so you can sleep through.
  • feeding babies in all modalities and combinations is something we are not only passionate about but also experts at.
  • we are specifically trained to recognize the early signs of postpartum anxiety, depression and other postpartum mood disorders. And if you need them, we will help you connect to a local provider you can trust.
