Our daughter became ill with RSV at 2 weeks old and we spent 5 nights in the hospital with her. My wife and I were nervous coming home and were exhausted. We were referred to KOP Doulas which we decided to use – we called them on a Friday and they were able to get us a doula by Sunday which was amazing. We had two doulas, and they were both great! We were able to catch up on sleep but more importantly, our daughter was watched over and taken care of all night. My wife and I decided to keep them on 1 night a week so we could sleep – it was a great decision! Thank you very much.

The Hypnobirthing class shows you an entirely new ideology about what birth can be like. Framing a new mindset around birth being a natural process not a medical one.  I can’t wait to put these techniques to practice when we meet our son. We will send pics! Going into the hospital to deliver I felt supported by my doula, we worked on different positions and trying to move. I felt like she could give me insight and support when I felt a contraction coming on and was there to guide me through each one. My labor ended up resulting in an emergency C-section due to my daughter’s cord being wrapped around her leg. I was terrified, I had no words, my anxiety was skyrocketing. My doula looked at me and provided me with the courage and support I needed. She reminded me I did everything I could to get my baby and myself to this point, she reminded me to be excited and happy, she reminded me I was in safe hands. I felt relief by her words and kept reminding myself of what she said while I was in the OR. I am so thankful for my whole experience with King of Prussia Doulas.

This was not a normal pregnancy and labor for us. We were excited to be pregnant and expecting another son but everything about this was veiled in the grief from the loss of our second child, a daughter. This journey was filled with anxiety and fear of medical staff and the worries that somehow we would lose another child. Lacey and Jenny understood the hurdles ahead of us and made it a priority to be available for us, day and night, and there were definitely some nights that I needed someone. It is impossible to describe what they gave back to me/us. A sense of control? A reminder that I have a voice? An additional layer between us and the hospital staff? Certainly all of these things but very much more. I’ll never be the “old me.” But now I can see that with their help I was able to bring our child into this world and keep him safe. They helped me do that. And their support didn’t stop there. Lacey set up to have 2 other doulas, Amanda and Stephanie, to stay with us overnight for the first few nights we were home. I don’t know how we would have gotten through that first week if it wasn’t for all of them. Lacey and Jenny- I’ll never be able to thank you enough. ~Whitley C.
