My husband and I worked
My husband and I worked with Larissa and Tia for the birth of our son. We weren’t supposed to be able to have children (less than a 2% chance supposedly), so everything about this pregnancy was a surprise to us and felt very high stakes from the start to get to the finish line with a healthy baby. I also have some complex medical conditions that made this a high risk pregnancy and required an inducement at 39 weeks to decrease the risk of a stillbirth. We took a childbirth class with King of Prussia Doulas and enjoyed the experience so much that we decided that having doula support would be a good choice for us. It was the best choice we made.
Larissa and Tia were kind, professional, and extremely knowledgeable from the start. They also were really good at providing the right amount and kind of support at the right time as we entered the last month of pregnancy. With my health conditions, they took the time to research them and propose a customized positioning plan for me. As my wants and opinions changed throughout the induction (i.e. no epidural to yes please, give it to me), they made me feel like I was making the right choice every time. Their education and preparation pre-birth actually made us feel empowered and solid in our rights to be able to ask for more time to think about options or to trust my intuition as the physicians were pressuring me into a c-section by Day 3. I ended up having a natural birth after all. However, I also appreciate the fact that they knew my goal was for us to survive, and apparently while I was dozing, they and my husband were discussing rational options to present to me to help me realize time might be up. That rationality was greatly appreciated too. It was a huge relief knowing that my husband had people there to support him as he watched me go through the hardest thing I’ve ever done. They had great emotional intelligence with a great handle on our personalities from just a few meetings with great interpersonal skills to give us each what we needed, when we needed it.
But I think their power is in the smaller touches. I already mentioned the personalized positioning plan to support my hypermobility in labor. They came with tons of resources for birth plans, affirmations, and postpartum support, with no pressure to use any of it, but just to have in case. Larissa had noticed I was a wavy-haired girl and brought silk (not cotton!) scrunchies in case I needed one for my hair, along with some other small tricks to help things go well. Tia tracked how long she heard from us and made sure to kindly check in through the night. The communication system was seamless. I ended up being ready to push right when they should have been changing over, but Larissa chose to stay since she had been there to see it all from the start of that day. Seeing the emotional investment both of them had in what was happening over those 72 hours meant everything.
While I’m not sure that I’d want to put my body back through something like this again, if we did end up having a second child, we wouldn’t hesitate to work with King of Prussia Doulas and specifically, Larissa and Tia, again.
I really enjoyed taking the
I really enjoyed taking the infant feeding class! The content included a wide variety of topics about breast feeding and included information regarding a wider audience, as everyone and their body is different! The instructor, Mary, was really wonderful! She was kind and fun and made me feel comfortable asking any questions that I had regardless of how personal they were! I also liked that she shared personal experiences as well! I felt a lot more prepared and knowledgeable for my breast feeding journey after taking this class! I would recommend this to every mama!
Alex and Lacey were nothing
Alex and Lacey were nothing short of an amazing Doula team for me. Any time I reached out leading up to the birth, they were very responsive, helpful and supported. Alex was great in coaching me through laboring at home, giving me positions and guidance on what to do based on how I was feeling. She also coached me through out the car ride to the birth center which was so helpful. Alex was great with supporting me physically and mentally during labor at the birth center, I couldn’t have done it with out her! And she stayed for a while after to continue to check in on us before heading home. I would recommended this team and KOP Doulas to anyone and everyone!
I first reached out to
I first reached out to King of Prussia Doulas in March, but due to financial limitations, my husband and I decided to forgo doula support. At 39+ weeks pregnant, a family member stepped in and offered to cover the cost, and I was so grateful to be able to secure care—albeit very last minute! I was connected with Jalecia, and in an incredible twist of timing, labor began within the hour of our introductory meeting.
My labor lasted 34 hours, and Jalecia was present and accessible from the moment I contacted her a few hours in. Her calming presence, deep knowledge, and steady support made all the difference. She advocated for me, reassured my husband, and brought a peaceful energy into a very intense experience.
She also captured the most tender, beautiful photos just moments after our daughter was born—images I will treasure forever. After delivery, she checked in regularly and visited us in person within the week to answer questions and provide additional support.
Even though we had only met once before labor started, by the time it was over, Jalecia felt like family. I can’t recommend King of Prussia Doulas enough. Their care was truly a gift.
We had a great experience
We had a great experience working with KOP Doulas. We appreciated the prenatal home visit to get to know our birth doula pair better and to discuss our preferences. While Sarah ultimately joined us, we felt equally confident that Ashli would have been fantastic. Sarah truly helped make our labor and delivery a positive and empowering experience. Her expert labor management techniques and calm confidence guided us through our desired unmedicated birth. Sarah’s post partum visit was a beautiful time to recollect the events that brought our beautiful daughter into the world. We will forever be grateful that Sarah joined us on this incredible journey!
