She had my back!
We chose King of Prussia based on past reviews and we were extremely pleased with how everything turned out. I feel like we were so lucky to get Melissa as our doula. From the get-go she was very warm, kind, and helpful. Both my husband and I were very comfortable with her and felt like we would be in good hands. When it was time to go to the birth center, she brought all her tools like the rebozo, diffusing oils, and an awesome vibrating thing to put on my back. This, combined with her massaging my back helped me get through my horrible back labor throughout the whole ordeal. Melissa’s calm demeanor and coaching helped me know that everything would be ok; she was great at reassuring my husband and I since we are first-timers. I always felt like she had my back (literally and figuratively) and she stayed with me for my whole long, tiresome, two-day labor. Even her voice is calming! She stayed with me and I know she must have been tired too, but she really, truly cared. I was so glad that she was with us for our son’s birth. The number one thing we say to our friends when reliving our birth story is that a doula (specifically Melissa) is 100% worth hiring! More than that; she was invaluable in our birth experience and I fully believe that I may have had to transfer to a hospital if she wasn’t there. That’s how much she relieved my stress and pain during that arduous process! Thank you Melissa, and thank you, Fate, for making her our doula. 🥰
The fairy godmother we needed
A couple weeks after bringing our colic-fueled son home from the hospital, my husband and I realized that we needed postpartum support. Lacey provided us with comfort and reassurance during our initial phone call. Promptly after our request for help, Jalecia showed up on our doorstep like a fairy godmother. Jalecia’s sweet nature, calming demeanor, and patience are just a few qualities that helped our son immediately feel comfortable when in her care. After every visit, the house was tidied, meals and snacks prepared, and my husband and I felt refreshed. Jalecia’s support allowed us to take some time for us to hit our own reset buttons in the never-ending task that is newborn care. The entire family (even the dog) was sad when we outgrew the need for postpartum support, but she is one of the reasons we were ready to fly solo.
Supportive and amazing
We worked with Lacey and Jackie for the planned homebirth of our second child. Beyond their presence at his birth, both were involved in our preparation and were able to answer so many questions I had not only about pregnancy and birth but also introducing a sibling and growing my family. I am so grateful for their listening ears towards the end of my pregnancy and their supportive checking-in about my wellbeing and readiness for a baby. During the birth their calm demeanor and awesome energy helped me to feel confident and powerful. Also they helped my (usually very bouncy) toddler to prepare for her brother’s birth (and not be scared) and to manage the whole experience and establish some positive feelings about birth and being a big sister.
Working with them both (and with Jackie as a post partum doula too!) was such a gift to my family. I will be forever grateful for their support as doulas and fellow parents.
Best money EVER spent!
When my wife first told me she was pregnant, I was beyond the moon excited! We were a bit older, and having been previously married with two older children, I figured that this was nothing new, business as usual.
When my wife said she wanted to hire a doula, I was literally like “what is a doula,” quickly followed with, “how much is this going to cost?”
I was completely dead set against it, but we met Lacey and even though she was an awesome person, I still wasn’t sold. I went along with it for my wife. The support started right away. My wife would text and chat with Lacey more and more over the next couple months, and would be there as a sounding board and overall just a calm voice in all of the crazy that goes with being pregnant.
Finally, the big day! My wife suffered with back labor for HOURS, the cure for which was literally pressing her hips to relieve the pressure. Hour after hour, uncomfortable position after uncomfortable position, our daughter was born. I could not have done it without Lacey being by my side, and more importantly, my wife needed her strength and words of encouragement throughout.
After the birth, she was the first to remind me that it had been hours since I ate, to go and eat something. That was unexpected, wasn’t she just there for my wife?? Looking back, i could have paid double, triple what I did, and it would still have been worth every single penny.
When my wife found out she was pregnant again, I think I was more excited to tell Lacey than she was.
Words don’t quite express how much Lacey and her team were the single biggest support that we had from the beginning to the end. If you are unsure or hesitant, it is worth it!!!
Guys, just do it.
At first I was skeptical, I didn’t think a Doula was necessary. After going through the pregnancy and birth process, I realize just how much I didn’t know. Having Lacey was like having a knowledgeable friend every step of the way. Hiring a doula made my wife happy and comfortable, which made me happy. I also didn’t have to worry about remembering my wife’s intake information, birthing plan, or notice if the baby had her first poop, Lacey handled all of that. She even beat me to the hospital. Guys, just do it.
